What is your first reaction/thoughts on a christian writing or watching horror movies

Very innovative thought that is good.

The classic horror movies are Christian themed like the Exorcist or the Omen, so why not?

I do not see any real problem with that unless they get really into the occult & evil wins.

But honestly we face evil/horror on a daily basis. Horror movies makes metaphors out of our everyday fears & puts them into a way where we feel in control of the out come more so than real life.
If a Christian gets into this, all I can hope is that they see God/Jesus as their source of power & their place of refuge. If that is so, then I think they should write as much as they can.

Also, I write fiction & one of my favorite characters is a homicidal psychopath. I love to make him the devil is advocate in my stories. If did not have him I would not be able to explore some very real questions people have.

My thoughts are that God loves all of His children and that we are not to judge one another on debatable matters like horror movies. Personally I do not like movies like those but we are all at different places in our walk with the Lord and He uses different people in different ways to accomplish His will here on earth.

There is nothing wrong with what they're doing, but it is also an uncommon enough profession that my interest would be piqued.

It would not be what I would do! But that man is not going to hell for the way he makes his living, if that is what you mean; not if he believes in the death, burial and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ for his sins.

Cool. Creativity is very much appreciated in this world. We need more of it.

Religion does not mean anything in that purpose. There is nothing wrong with it.

I'd wonder how rich they were. Also, I'd think that they had a pretty bad childhood and is trying to express their anger through the movies.

As long as they do not act upon their thoughts (murder), I do not see anything wrong with it.

Well since I write horror for a hobby, it would be hypocritical of me to to think badly of them. My question would be, what are the themes of their writing? Are there spiritual undertones? Does good win over evil? That is more important to me than the mere genre.

I do not see a problem with it. It would not matter in the least to me.

Depends on what the ''horror'' movies are about. I mean, there are some movies that are Christian that are considered horror sometimes to certain people. Like, the author Frank Peretti or the movie ''The Visitation''.

So, those are my thoughts.

And I'd immediately ask if they're any good, and if they're clean.

That would really depend on the actual writings. I would not judge him based on the genre that he was writing.

The truth can be scary.

I watch horror movies and read horror novels. I am a Christian, and I do not see the big deal.

I'd like them much better after finding out they wrote horror fiction.

my only thought on that would be 'wow that is cool way to make a living'.
