Why are ghosts so popular in Japanese horror movies but not in American horror movies

Japanese ghost films rely heavily on psychological horror and storyline where American horror films just can not seem to get past the in-your-face graphic violence and gore of horror films.

because the asian facination is a much creepier eerie feel to it ..they have alot of beliefs about our spirits being restless & when restlessness occurs the spirit will haunt until it can pass ..but they all arent comfortable with the idea of being haunted ..the way they tell their stories is also alot more atmospheric & they use suspense better .rather than go for obvious jump at u scares like our horror films do ..they love a good build up & bizarre images because it uses our sense & psychological well being against us
watch the original asian versions of many remade films like ..ring ,grudge ,one missed call, dark water ,etc...i have the originals ..and personally they r better !

It depends on how we grew up. ( Nature snd nurture). Japanese children grew up with folklores, living with extended family in most cases. Their thought process are different than ours.
( the modern generation of Japan is being raised in a similar fashion as in USA, in the urban area mostly, They will be less likely to believe in ghosts like us)
